You Are More Important Than You Think

There was a poor guy who thought he was a loser. He felt shame for himself for doing nothing in his life. Finally he can’t bear those negative feelings anymore, he wanted to jump off a cliff to end himself.

When he was standing by the cliff, he started crying and talking to himself about all the frustrations in his life. Then the tree from the crevice of the rock started crying too.

The guy stopped crying and asked the tree : Why are you crying? Are you frustrated with your life too?

The tree said: I am the most miserable tree in the world, look at where I am located, It’s so difficult to be growing in the crevice. Not enough soil and water, my roots can’t deep in , my branches can’t stench out, I don’t have enough nutrition, so I look weird and ugly. Everyone thinks I am a tough tree only myself knows how struggling I am, to be honest ending my life is much easier than surviving in the difficult living enrollment.

The guy asked: if this is the case, why are you still here?

The tree said: yes it’s easy to die, but do you see the nest on my head? It was built by two magpies, they have been living in here for a long time and now they have several generations. If I’m gone then they will lose their home. So I can’t just end myself.

The answer from the tree made the guy change his mind, he walked back to his home.

We all have sadness sometimes , don’t think you are nothing, actually you’re something to someone somehow.

The Easiest And Smartest Way To Deal With Life—Let It Be

Photo by David Emrich on Unsplash

Once upon a time, a master and his student lived in the temple. There was a summer which was hotter than others, the grass in the temple had withered.
The little monk said:”They look so bad! We need to plant some, otherwise the garden will be bald!”
The master waved his hand: “ we should wait until the weather gets cooler.”

During the Mid-Autumn Festival, Master bought a bag of grass seeds to ask the little monk to plant. But, the grass seeds scattered and fluttered, when the autumn wind blew. The little monk saw that then became worried and shouted:“ There is lot of seeds blew away!”
The master said:”It’s okay, most of them blow away because they are empty, it won’t be able to sprout anyway.”

After sowing the seeds, a few birds flew over to peck them.
“Mater! Help! The birds are eating the seeds.” The little monk jumped and shouted.
“It’s okay! We planted more seeds than we need.”

There was a shower in the middle of that night. The little monk ran to the master’s room:
“Master! the rain washed away lot of the seeds.”
” It’s ok! where they send to wherever they grow,” the master said, “let it be”

One week later, the grass seedlings grew out of the originally bare ground, also other corners that they did not plant. That surprised the little monk, all his worries finally ended.
The master nodded and smiled.

Let it be, do not worry, do not complain, do not rush, do not overdo, do not panic, do not force. Don’t be pessimistic, don’t be rigid, don’t get carried away. Just let it be.

Why Do We Need To Be A Bigger Person

The zen master just had a new student who’s having a hard time in life .
The master put two tablespoons of salt into a glass of water, then asked the student to taste.
The student had a sip and told him: that’s too salty, even bitter.

Then the master took the student to a lake, he put two tablespoons of salt into the lake and asked the student to taste the water, the student tasted it and told him: the water is so sweet, no difference with other spring water.

The master smiled and said: the salt is such like the pain and struggles in your life, so you want to have a small heart or big heart?

One day, the cat fell into a big pit, the pig brought the rope to her,
The Cat said , thrown it down piggy. Then the pig threw the whole rope to the cat .
The cat was so depressed, she thought he would just drop one side of the rope then pull her up . “Really ? Throw it like that how do you expect to pull me up?” Said the cat. The pig said: “ok so what should I have done ?” The cat said: “you should hold one side of the rope!” The pig said : “got you !” At the same time he jumped into the pit and grabbed one side of the rope said to the cat: “like this ?”

Suddenly all the depression from cat was gong , she started crying and laughing, she felt she was the happiest cat in the world because She has a truly good friend, he maybe not clear what’s happening but he’s staying with her in the mess.

The Wisdom Of Silence

picture is from Unsplash

A nomad walked into the temple, he saw Bodhisattva was sitting on the lotus platform for worship, he was very envious.

He asked: “Can I change to your position”?

Bodhisattva answered: “Only if you can keep silent, no matter what you see or hear”.

Then the nomad sat on the lotus platform. Things were not as lovely as he thought. There were messy and noisy all day long, so many prayers and wishes. He struggled to keep the promise to Bodhisattva.

One day, a rich man came in, he said: “Bodhisattva, please give me virtue”.He knelt and got up, his wallet dropped on the floor, but he didn’t know. The nomad who was being “Bodhisattva” just wanted to tell the rich man about that, then he reminded himself of real Bodhisattva’s words. So he kept his mouth shut.

Then, a poor man came in. He said: “Bodhisattva, please let me get some money, my family is dying, We need some cash to see a doctor”.He knelt and got up, he suddenly found the wallet on the floor, he was so happy, he thought it was the manifestation from Bodhisattva. He took the wallet and walked away.

The nomad wanted to tell the poor man it is nothing about Bodhisattva’s manifestation, it is just because a rich man dropped by accident.

In the meantime, a fisherman came in. He asked Bodhisattva to give pleasant weather to keep him safe during fishing. Still, the same as others, knelt and got up. When he was just about to leave, the rich man came back in a hurry and stopped him, the rich man thought the fisherman must be the one who picked up his wallet. Of course, the fisherman had no idea about it, Seeing they spent the time discussing the problem, the nomad could not bear the mess anymore, he said: “stop”! , then he told them the truth about the wallet.

They found the poor man at the gate of the temple, he hadn’t left yet. So, money was back to the rich man, things cleared, and the fisherman was free to go back to fish.

This mess seemed to be handled well by the nomad, but Bodhisattva said: “just go back to your life, you thought it was impartial that you opened your mouth to tell them the truth, but nobody got the things they wished. If you have kept silent as you promised, the rich man could have got his virtue by his money helping others, the poor man would have saved family’s life and if things were not cleared soon by your mouth, the fisherman could have stuck in the temple more to avoid the bad weather, then he wouldn’t have died.

The nomad was silent then walked out of the temple . . .

Everything happens for a reason, they are under the best arrangements.  Things happen when it meant to happen.Sometimes, all answers can be found in silence.

Humans learn to speak in two years, but take the rest of life to learn when to keep silent.
